The traditional turmeric face mask

Tumeric face mask paste

Turmeric is one of those ingredients that is truly well known for its health benefits both inside and out (especially within the Indian and Chinese communities). Some of the benefits include anti-inflammatory and skin healing properties. The spice is used in many curries which gives it that orangey- yellow colour. It’s also used for Indian wedding ceremonies leading up to the wedding of the groom and bride to make their skin glow.

So if you’re after healthy clear skin, just make sure you have the following:

2 tablespoons of yoghurt
1 teaspoon of honey
2 teaspoons of turmeric powder
and a dash of milk
[adjust ingredients to control the thickness of the paste]

Mix together to form a paste and spread on to the face. Just make sure you’re careful when applying, as the turmeric can stain your hands, so it’s best to use a brush or something similar to protect them. Leave it on the skin for roughly 20 minutes and then wash off with luke warm water.

And voila, there you have your very own home-made mask. You can also keep the remaining mixture in the fridge for a cool refresher on the next application.
