Rouge Barry M lips, coral cheeks and Loreal eye primer

It’s been a hard day of shopping at Westfield in Shepherds Bush today *phewwww* so after some well-deserved dessert I’ve decided to skip the hot chocolate and sip on some green tea whilst I’m blogging :). I’m SUPER excited to show you what I bought, so keep an eye out on this future post soon!!!

But oh dear, it’s been nine days since I last posted, although I come with good reasons, because I’ve finally tested out my Barry M Gelly Hi Shine in red (number 2) and my L’Oreal Color Riche Fixing & Unifying Eyeshadow Primer. When I purchased both products I also picked up the Barry M blusher in a peach colour too, so I’ll be reviewing all three products! (*NO FILTER* on any of these pictures).

When I first went to pick this up, I didn’t really think anything of it, but the application is a different story. Choosing Barry M’s lip crayon was a tough decision, as if you go to any cosmetic brand most will now stock something almost identical. I suppose what attracted me the most were the words ‘Gelly Hi Shine’ and the presentation. This crayon glides on very smoothly and thick and I instantly knew it wouldn’t be budging from my lips any time soon, it’s a great lip liner and lipstick in one.

Results:

9/10 – From 10:30am – 18:00pm = AMAZING! No re-applying, no touch-ups, nothing! My first stop in Westfield was Costa and yes, some colour did transfer onto the coffee cup, but when I finished my coffee I expected the majority to come off and it didn’t. What a top result, couldn’t ask for much more really! And I was glad to hear that the colour hadn’t smeared across my face somewhere when I turned to ask my friend how it looked every five minutes! I found that when I reapplied and blotted my lips, the payoff was even better. Before bed, I used my cucumber facial wash and I was still able to see the subtle hint/stain of red.

Barry M peach blusher

This coral blusher is something I would suggest wearing if you need some coral sparkle on your face. As you can see from the pan, it’s very messy and the specks of powder can go a bit haywire! You’d need to work the colour in a bit more compared to your average blusher, but you’ll only need a little bit at a time. To be honest it was a little disappointing for me and even though I’m a fan of Barry M, I don’t think this did it for me.

Results:

4/10 – too glittery and messy for my liking, but you can get away with this is applied very carefully onto the skin.

Eye primer, Loreal Fixing & Unifying Eyeshadow Primer

So clumsily, I completely forgot to apply my eye primer before I began creating my soft smokey brown eyes, but my best friend wanted a similar look so I tried this on her instead! I love this pencil, it’s a milky white colour on the eye lids and the texture is rich and thick which is great for holding. It took me a little longer to blend the colour at times but it wasn’t a problem. My friend isn’t a big fan of makeup, particularly foundation so this is all natural!

Loreal eye primer

In my swatch above, you can see how the primer looks from left to right:

  1. Applied directly onto the skin
  2. Primer blended in
  3. Pink eyeshadow colour without and with the primer
  4. The same two colours when they are rubbed off

When the primer is applied on the skin, the pink on the right appears much brighter when compared to the pink on the left hand side of my arm and the staying power is pretty incredible too! It’s really quite hard for the colour to budge with the primer on and this is the reason why I’ll be sticking to it! (no pun intended).

Results:

8/10 – very long lasting, I couldn’t fault this! Similar to the NYX jumbo pencil in milk, nice one L’Oreal :)!

Thanks for reading!

Love, Simi
